The Filming of 

 "Love, Sex, and the Stars"

The plan was simple: a series of videos breaking down the book’s key concepts, with Mum explaining love spells, the power of astrology, and the secrets of Tarot cards. However, once filming began, it became apparent that the project would evolve into something far more than a simple instructional video. From the very first day, it was clear that spirits, spells, and the unseen forces that my family had worked with for generations would play a much larger role in the production than anyone had anticipated.

The producer and his crew were a mixed bunch—open-minded but sceptical. None of them really believed in the magic Mum was famous for, but they were curious. They assumed the video shoot would just be another job—something a little different, maybe, but certainly not extraordinary. That all changed by the end of the first day.

Setting the Scene

We began filming in the shop, where Mum had spent years doing readings and selling her potions and crystals. The place itself had always been filled with an undeniable energy. As soon as you walked through the door, you could feel the hum of spiritual forces at work. Mum decided the first part of the video would focus on her astrological compatibility readings, something she had done for years.



But even in those early moments of filming, strange things began to happen. The lights would flicker unexpectedly, the sound equipment would pick up strange, low whispers that none of us could hear, and cold drafts swept through the room when there were no windows open. The crew brushed it off as technical issues, but my daughters and I exchanged knowing glances. We’d seen this kind of thing before. The spirits were making their presence known.

Seances and Spirits

About halfway through the shoot, the producer approached Mum with an idea. He had heard about her skills with séances and thought it might add a dramatic touch to the video. Mum hesitated at first, not wanting to turn something so sacred into a spectacle, but eventually, she agreed. If we were going to film a séance, she wanted it done with respect, following the proper rituals and preparation.

That evening, after the crew had wrapped up filming the day’s sessions on astrology, we stayed behind to set up for the séance. Candles were lit, and Mum pulled out her old crystal ball—an item she’d used for decades. My daughters, who had grown up learning the craft just as I had, assisted in preparing the space. As the candles flickered and the room darkened, the atmosphere became thick with anticipation.



The producer, camera crew, and several other people from the team sat in a circle with Mum at the centre, holding the séance. As she called upon the spirits, the temperature in the room dropped noticeably, and a deep chill settled over us. I could see the scepticism in the producer’s eyes at first, but that quickly changed when the table began to shake ever so slightly. The cameras, still rolling, caught the movement clearly. Everyone around the table froze. You could hear the crew breathing heavier, their disbelief beginning to waver.

Mum began speaking in a soft, deliberate voice, asking the spirits to make themselves known. For what felt like an eternity, nothing happened. Then, suddenly, one of the crew members let out a sharp gasp. Behind Mum, in the dim candlelight, a faint, translucent figure appeared. It was barely visible, a wisp of something not quite there, but it was enough to send a shockwave through the room. The crew scrambled to adjust the cameras, focusing them on the space behind Mum, but by the time they steadied their hands, the figure had vanished.



The producer, pale and wide-eyed, glanced at my daughters, who were sitting quietly by the side of the room, absorbing everything. Without missing a beat, he asked them to read Tarot for the team as if trying to ground himself in something tangible. My girls, already well-versed in the craft, pulled out their Tarot decks and began reading for each of the crew members. One by one, they gave startlingly accurate readings, pinpointing personal details that left the crew speechless.

Spells and Covens

With the success of the séance and the Tarot readings, the video began to take on a life of its own. The producer was so intrigued by what he’d witnessed that he asked Mum to film a segment on love spells. She agreed but on one condition: the spells had to be done correctly, with the proper rituals and respect for the forces we were working with.

The next scene we shot was outside, in a nearby forest that Mum had always loved for its natural energy. This was where she would perform spells, where she could connect to the earth and its spirits. The crew followed us deep into the woods as Mum prepared a love spell using herbs, candles, and crystals. My daughters and I stood by her side, helping with the preparations while the camera crew filmed every step. The spell was simple but potent—one that had been passed down through our family for generations.

As Mum began the ritual, the wind picked up, and the trees around us seemed to sway in time with her words. The energy in the air was palpable. The camera crew had fallen silent, their scepticism gone, replaced by awe. It was as though the forest itself had come alive, watching and waiting as the spell unfolded.



At the end of the ritual, something remarkable happened. Just as Mum extinguished the candle, a flock of birds flew overhead, their calls echoing through the trees. It felt like a sign—a confirmation from the spirits that the spell had been heard and acknowledged. The crew was speechless.

Behind the Scenes and Spirit Encounters

Throughout the filming, strange things continued to happen behind the scenes. The crew would report feeling cold spots in the shop, even when the heating was on full blast. Several team members claimed to have seen shadows moving in the room's corners, always just out of sight.

One night, after we had wrapped up shooting for the day, the producer confided in me that he had heard his name whispered while we were filming in the forest. He couldn’t explain it, but it had shaken him.

As the days passed, the crew became increasingly involved in the mystical side of things. What had started as a simple film about astrology and relationships had turned into something much deeper—a journey into the unknown. Originally a non-believer, the producer was fully invested in capturing the magic on film.



Mum decided to end the video with a final séance, this time to contact a particular spirit—someone the producer had lost years ago. It was an emotional session that left everyone in the room with tears in their eyes. The presence of the spirit was undeniable, and the messages that came through were deeply personal.

The Final Cut

By the time filming wrapped, the crew had become believers. The video, originally intended to promote Love, Sex, and the Stars, had turned into something much more—a powerful glimpse into the world of magic, spirits, and the unknown. The behind-the-scenes footage of séances, spells, and spirit encounters added an element of intrigue that no one had anticipated.

The final product was a mesmerising blend of practical advice and mystical experiences, which captivated audiences when released. It wasn’t just a video about astrology and relationships anymore; it was a testament to the power of the unseen world, a world my family had always lived in that few outside our circle had ever truly understood.

As for the crew, they left the project forever changed. They had come in as sceptics, but by the end, they were believers, convinced that there was more to this world than we can see with our eyes. The spirits had spoken, and they had listened.
