How to Call Back Your Energy After Heartache

Hi everyone, I’m Sarah Kulkens, and today I want to share something really powerful something that’s helped not only myself but thousands of people I’ve worked with over the years.
It’s about what to do after your heart has been broken... when you feel like you’ve lost yourself, or your spark, or just feel completely drained. It’s about how to call back your energy after heartache.
Because when a relationship ends, whether it’s romantic, a friendship, or even family, it’s not just emotional pain we go through. Spiritually, we often leave parts of ourselves behind. Our energy gets scattered, and that can leave us feeling flat, foggy, or unmotivated.
Let’s talk about how to gently and powerfully call that energy back.
First, how do you know your energy’s been scattered?
You might feel:
Drained, even after resting.
Like you’re not really “here”.
Easily triggered or overly sensitive.
You keep replaying memories in your mind.
You’ve lost your sense of self.
If any of that sounds familiar, you’re not broken, you’re just energetically spread too thin. And it’s time to bring those pieces back.

Let me tell you a little story
Not too long ago, I went through my own heartbreak. Someone I trusted deeply walked away. And although I kept going through the motions work, family, helping others — I felt empty inside.
One morning, I walked barefoot across my garden, dew still on the grass, and I remember whispering, “Where are you, Sarah?”
That’s when I realised: I needed to call my energy back.
So I started doing what I now teach little rituals to bring myself home.
Over time, my intuition returned. My joy came back. My connection to spirit grew stronger. I felt like me again.
So now, I want to share with you some beautiful, simple rituals that you can do to call your energy back after heartache. Do them when you feel ready there's no rush.

Ritual 1: Grounding
Take off your shoes and stand on grass or earth. Feel the ground under your feet. Breathe in slowly... and out.
Imagine little roots growing from your feet deep into the Earth. And imagine pieces of your energy glowing bits of light gently returning to your body.
Do this for a few minutes every day if you can. It’s incredibly healing.
Ritual 2: Cord-Cutting — A Three-Night Process
Night one, light a candle. Sit quietly. Call the person to mind your ex, or anyone you need to release.
Say out loud: “I release all cords that no longer serve me. I call my energy home.”
Visualise a golden sword cutting any attachments.
Night two, focus on setting boundaries. Imagine a soft, glowing shield around you.
Say: “Only what is mine remains. I honour the past, but I choose peace.”
Night three, call your energy back. Picture those fragments returning to you your heart, your solar plexus, your soul.
Say: “I am whole. I am sovereign. I reclaim my light.”

Ritual 3: Water Release
This one’s so lovely and gentle.
Fill a bowl or your bath with warm water. Add some sea salt or rose petals if you like. Place your hands in the water and breathe.
Visualise your pain, your regrets, anything you’re ready to release moving from you into the water.
When you’re done, pour it out. As the water flows away, say: “I release. I reclaim. I begin again.”
Ritual 4: Journalling & Burning
Write a letter to your ex, to your past self, to the pain. Say everything you need to say.
Then, when you’re ready, tear it up or burn it safely.
As the paper turns to ash, imagine those emotions lifting away. Say: “I am free. I am safe. I am mine.”
Ritual 5: Daily Affirmations
These are powerful. Try saying:
“I call back every piece of my energy.”
“I am whole and complete.”
“My energy is mine to keep and protect.”
Say these out loud in the mirror, in the shower, before bed. The more you say them, the more your energy responds.

And finally, protect your energy.
Visualise a soft bubble or cloak around you before leaving home. Carry grounding crystals like black tourmaline or smoky quartz. Avoid people, places, and apps that drain you.
Most importantly check in with yourself throughout the day. Ask: “Where is my energy right now?” And if you feel it slipping, gently breathe it back.
So, how long does this take?
There’s no one answer. Some people feel clearer after a week. For others, it’s months. Healing isn’t linear and that’s okay.
Do what feels right for you, when it feels right. Come back to these rituals any time.
A closing message for you…
Calling back your energy isn’t just about getting over someone it’s about becoming you again.
Not the person you were before them... but the wiser, deeper, more powerful version of you that’s now emerging.
So please take your time. Be gentle with yourself. Let the rituals support you. Let the Earth hold you. And let your energy find its way home.
Because you, beautiful soul you are worth coming home to.
With love,
Sarah Kulke
